Brook-Iroquois Township
Volunteer Fire Department

The Brook-Iroquois Township Volunteer Fire Department serves the Town of Brook and the townships of Iroquois, Washington, and southern Jackson with seven apparatus and 20 volunteers.

The department operates a medical/command vehicle, two brush trucks, a primary engine, a secondary engine/tanker, two tankers, and an aerial ladder truck. They also are proud of their first motorized apparatus, their 1925 Model T chemical/hose truck.

History: The department was formally organized on March 7, 1916, by an action by the Brook town board, the same time a water supply system was installed in the town. Prior to this time, residents were alerted that there was a fire by a fire bell which was rung, and any available volunteer grabbed ladders and buckets and ran to the fire to help.

We are very proud and thankful for those who currently volunteer their time and those who have volunteered in the past. Their efforts over the years have gone a long way in helping Brook and the surrounding communities.
